VIRTUAL Downtown Statesville Christmas Tree Lighting
For your safety and the safety of visitors, we ask that you follow the NC COVID-19 safety protocol, including wearing a mask, social distancing, using good hand, cough & sneeze hygiene, and staying home if you feel unwell.
Due to the overwhelming response and the continued gathering restrictions, Downtown Statesville has no choice but to make the 2020 Christmas Tree Lighting a virtual event.
This year's pre-recorded virtual program will feature Mayor Kutteh and the Miss Statesville 2021 queens and princesses lighting the tree to ring in the season in Downtown Statesville.
We invite people to come downtown, enjoy the twinkling lights of the beautiful trees and wreaths throughout downtown before stopping by to see the tree in person on Thursday evening. Don’t forget to take your holiday photos in front of the tree before or after enjoying extended shopping hours and dinner out in downtown on Thursday, December 3.
Also from 6 – 6:30 pm, classic holiday songs will be performed by Studio3 orchestra in front of the Christmas tree as it shines bright!
Santa’s Magic Mailbox will be on the front steps at City Hall during the Shop & Stroll in hopes that Statesville boys and girls will send him their lists! Once the letters are placed in the Magic Mailbox, they are special expressed straight to the North Pole! No need for a stamp!
And if you include your name and address, Santa will write you back a personal note to let you know he received your letter. The mailbox will be out Friday night at City Hall, 227 S. Center Street. Stop by and enjoy the building's festive decorations and take a selfie with the Nutcrackers standing guard at the door!
Horse Drawn Carriage rides (rain or shine) are available for purchase online with timeslots still available https://www.downtownstatesville.com/horse-drawn-carriage-rides
Also visitors can walk thru the Nostalgic Christmas Park on the grounds of the Historic Sharpe House from 5:30 – 9:30. Stroll through this pathway in the woods and enjoy the sights of new and old world Christmas lights and décor. Created and designed by Keith and the footmen, with special thanks to John Childress. Walk thru hosted by staff and volunteers, donations accepted.
