New Features Installed at Cooper Street Art Gallery

Last Updated 10/4/2020

On Friday morning, Cooper Street Art Gallery, dubbed the art wall, had new art installed in Downtown Statesville.

Downtown Statesville Development Corporation’s Design Committee first installed this gallery in October of 2018 in an effort to provide more public art in downtown. The images are changed every year, and are chosen from public submissions.

After a call for art submissions earlier in the Summer, the committee received many impressive pieces to choose from. The art was printed on mesh banner material and now hangs on the existing support structure that covers the wall on the side of Nu-Way Shoes.

The images that have been installed for this first round include:

“The DSDC Board of Directors understands the importance of public art in downtown and is thrilled to be able to provide this installation for the community to enjoy again this year!” said Marin Tomlin, Executive Director of Downtown Statesville Development Corporation. “We were able to increase the number of featured pieces from five up to nine.”
