Fire Destroys Three Buildings in Downtown Statesville

Last Updated 4/27/2023In Statesville News

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 25, a fire of currently unknown origin broke out somewhere in the vicinity of 101-109 W. Broad Street, ultimately destroying three buildings, 101 W. Broad (GG's Art Frames Gifts), 109 W. Broad (Theatre Statesville), and 104 S. Center Street (Merrill Lynch).  Visit the City of Statesville's website to see the full press release.  The Statesville Fire Departments along side many other neighboring departments, valiantly fought the flames, minimizing the damage that could have occurred.

Downtown Statesville Development Corporation would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Statesville Fire Department, Mooresville Fire Department, Hickory Fire Department, Mocksville Fire Department, Troutman Fire Department, Harmony Volunteer Fire Department, South Iredell Volunteer Fire Department, Monticello Volunteer Fire Department, Statesville Police Department, Iredell County Emergency Management, and Iredell County Fire Marshal's Office for their heroic efforts at keeping our Downtown as safe and intact as possible.  Additionally, thank you to the many other City Departments that have been working tirelessly to address the aftermath of the fire since Tuesday morning.

Finally we would like to recognize our community for stepping up and supporting one another, The Vanilla Bean Coffee and Bakery for giving out coffee in the early morning hours, Andrea's Ice Cream and Sweet Shop for providing donuts and coffee to  those on scene throughout the day, Banner Drug/Greenbriar Grill for providing lunch for first responders, and The 220 Cafe for providing a meal for first responders, and the Rock Fitness for providing free recovery services to Firemen who worked the fire.  Please check back for ways you can pitch in and help our Downtown Community in its time of need.
