Join us for the First Annual "Home for the Holidays" Gingerbread House contest, sponsored by Allen Tate Realtors.  We have 25 participating locations to place houses in. Once your application is submitted, it will be considered by our committee and you will be informed of your location, if accepted. First Prize in each category is $100 cash. Second Prize is $25 in Downtown Dollars. Categories are Professional, Adult Amateur, Under 18 Amateur, and People's Choice (voted on by the public). 

OFFICIAL RULES

• FREE to enter - Deadline for applications is November 27, 2023
• All Professional and Amateur Adult" entries must be originals and cannot be made from a store bought kit.
• Structure must be made entirely of Gingerbread. Gingerbread must be incorporated into the main structure of your entry.
• At least 50% of the professional division exterior must be visible gingerbread (not covered with other items).
• Gingerbread for "Professionals and Amateur Adult" entries should be traditional gingerbread and not gingerbread cake.
• All visible parts must be built only of edible materials with the exception of battery powered lights (if used), and bases.
• Edible materials are not limited to candy and icings.
• Candies must be unwrapped.
• Entries may be no taller than 20" and must be on a hard, unbending surface. (Professional division only: Entries no taller than 36")
• Bases must be completely concealed with an edible product and may be no longer than 22" x 22". (Professional division only: Entries no larger than 48" x 48"). Non-edible materials, such as ribbon, are approved to decorate the outer edge of your base.
• Non-edible materials may be used inside to stabilize the structure as long as they are not visible.
• Entries will be viewed from all directions.
• Amateur Under 18 entries only: While parents are permitted to help with the gingerbread creations, each contestant in these categories must submit three photos to [email protected] to document the child/teen's role as gingerbread builder.
• Entries must be delivered to your assigned location by 5pm on November 29.
• The images of all entries become the property of Downtown Statesville Development Corp. and are permitted for use in any promotional materials or media utilized by DSDC.
