Lisa McBroom has been chosen as this year's recipient of the William H. Roberts Public Library Distinguished Service Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize service excellence in public libraries across North Carolina, and it was presented at this year's North Carolina Library Association conference.

Lisa has been an important figure at the Iredell County Public Library for decades now, and they were absolutely thrilled that she was chosen out of many nominations as the recipient of this year’s award. We join them in congratulating her on her much deserved time in the spotlight, and thank her for her many years of service.

Rogelio Calvo is a Panamanian/American artist working in oils and printmaking, creating art that reveals the richness of his heritage. Rogelio is also the former Executive Director of the Iredell Arts Council and is a professor at Mitchell Community College, teaching drawing, printmaking and painting. Many will recognize Rogelio as an essential figure moving visual arts forward in Statesville, a strong supporter of performing arts and his neighbors. A collection of Rogelio's autobiographical paintings, never exhibited previously, will be on display in the gallery at The Old Jail through October 28.
